Working for Islam means work for Khilafah as a group

Rassoel Allah salla Allah alayhi wasalam was sent by Allah to make Izhaar-Ud-Deen – Domination of Islam over all other religions and ways of life.

Allah says: It is He who sent his messenger with the Truth and Guidance so that it may prevail over all the ways of life even if the mushrikoon detest it. [9:33]

This was the mission of the Messenger (saw) for which all His (saw) efforts and struggle was directed towards. This goal became reality when He (saw) transferred the society of Jahiliyyah (kufr and ignorance) to a society of Imaan. This must be the goal of every single Muslim individuals and groups. What has been ordered upon the Messenger (saw) is an order upon the Ummah of Muhammad (saw).

Allah says: …And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it), and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is Severe in punishment. [59:7]

There are three distinct milestones which summarise His (saw) mission, and they are indisputable. Every Muslim must be aware of these and understand their importance as well as there details in regards to their rulings in Islam. Also they can be used as measurement as to who is really working for Islam, whether their efforts counts or not and who has been diverted and lost focus from the real mission.

Milestone one: The fact that the Messenger alayhi salam established an Islamic State (Daarul Islam). He alayhi salam made careful planning and strategies in order to remove the authority of kufr and establish the sovereignty of Allah alayhi salam. He alayhi salam gained power and authority to govern mankind by the laws of Allah and the real mission of Izhar-ud-Deen was achieved.

Milestone two: The fact that the Messenger alayhi salam had a unique manhaj (methodology) for the mission. This methodology is wahi (revelation) for all to follow and become successful in this mission and to gain the pleasure of Allah . Whoever follows a method other than His is an innovator and will never reach his goal.

Milestone three: The fact that he (saw) embarked on the mission collectively as a jama’ah with his companions (ra) and not alone. This matter becomes evident from Sunnah the Seerah (biography) of the Messenger (saw) when we study their sacrifices and struggle they undertook in an organised manner under the guidance of Rasoolullah (saw). Working in a group is divine pre-requisite to establish the Islamic State.

Sadly there many groups and individuals claim that they are working for Islam. Some do it alone while work in group. However that work is only confined to inviting people to Islam as a ritual belief or teaching Islam in a secularised manner, while others are content in fund raising for charity and relief work. The comprehensivity of Islam is lacking and concept of establishing Islamic State is never discussed or encouraged.

When the Khilafah – the Islamic State, was destroyed in 3rd of March 1924, it was Fard (obligation) upon Muslims to re -establish the Khilafah again within the time limit of 3 days and two nights. This duty in its origin was Fard-e-Kifaayah - a collective duty which requires sufficient number of people to accomplish, not necessarily every one to engage upon it. Those who engage upon it are free from blame and sin but the burden remains upon them until it has been accomplished, and as for the rest who don’t engage on it, the burden remains upon them too but no sin.

Before Umar (ra), the 2nd Khalif of Islam, passed away he nominated six top companions of the Messenger (saw), they were – Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra), Uthman bin A’ffan (ra), Abdur Rahman ibn A’wf (ra), Sa’ad bin abi Waqqaas (ra), Az-Zubeir bin ‘Awaam (ra) and Talha bin U’baidullah (ra), out of whom one to be selected by the rest of the companions as the khalif after him. He gave them three days and two nights to decide, if after selecting a khalif, if any one rejects this then strike his neck. He said “Do not let the fourth day come without you having a leader over you”. [At-Tabaqaat by Ibn Sa’ad 3/364].

This was Ijma’ (the consensus) of all the sahaba.

However since the time limit of establishing the Khilafah has expired and now it has been over 85 years the Ummah without the Shar’iah. The Fard-e-Kifaayah has now transformed to become Fard-e-Muhattam – which means an obligation upon every single Muslim around the world to engage upon it ‘collectively’ as a group or groups in order to remove their sin and blame. Hence joining a group that engages upon this duty becomes Fard upon the individual. If no group exists to fulfil it then it becomes obliged upon the individual to form a group in order to perform this duty.

The urgency of this duty can not be emphasized enough! To put it simply the Khilafah is the ‘mother of all Faraaid (obligations)’ or Fard-Al-Asaasi (root obligation). Which means that all the Waajibaat (obligations) commanded by Allah such as, implementing the Shari’ah, establishing Tawheed, unifying the Ummah, even the Salaah, Zakaah, Fasting, Hajj, living according to Quran and Sunnah, avoiding Shirk etc - all of which can not be accomplished comprehensively as they are dependant upon the ‘root’ i.e. the Khilafah. Only then can we say that we have avoided Taghoot (false God) and worship Allah in all sphere of life. Refraining from this work will not only mean a great sin but an accumulation of sins. Since some of the most important commandments of Allah will be neglected.
